color: like sweet iced tea
smell: peppery, sweet oak
body: slight, tree bark
taste: first sip, spicy! from there on, lively.
finish: strong pepper, refreshing
price: about 35 its super premium bourbon
Poet: Particularly good if had on a hot day without the benefit of air conditioning. A glass of this with an ice cube makes sitting on the balcony in the evening feel decadent. Too feisty for a shot (except on special occasions). Good for a card game or if had while gambling; very nice in a Manhattan.
Engineer: Its aged but not mellow. The spice is lively in this drink. The taste is stronger than other whiskey's- the rye spice comes in waves. I like it best in a Manhattan, where the favor is tempered but not lost.
This is a bourbon that I don't like to drink straight. This is a really good bourbon, the spice or pine flavor is too rich alone for my taste. However, it makes my favorite Manhattan. Very distinctive.
